Research Site: A true research site is when a controlled environment is established and then visited frequently (normally on a regular basis, weekly, biweekly, etc.) to test new theories and research ideas. To a researcher, the benefits of a long-term research site is the ability to find out what is normal for that location, therefore deviations from that norm may be recorded as data. This is not possible on an investigation where one may only visit a site a few times.
Residual Haunting: This type of haunt generally occurs at the same time every time and is the same scene over and over. There will be no interaction for the spirits don't even see you. These haunting usually involve a visual sighting of a past traumatic event that occurred at that location. It may not be technically referred to as a haunting, but more of an energy imprint.
Retro- cognition: A sudden shift or displacement in time in which one finds himself/herself in the past seeing or experiencing events of which they had no prior knowledge and also known as Post-cognition.

Scrying: Is a form of fortune-telling in which the seer perceives visions of the future while gazing into a mirror, crystal ball, bowl of water, or other reflective surface.
Séance: A gathering or "spirit circle" of individuals for the purpose of communicating with the dead. May also be referred to as "A Circle."
Sensitive: Someone who is aware of or can feel paranormal presences that cannot be picked up by the normal five senses. Usually does not have the ability to openly communicate with a spirit as does Medium, but can sense or feel what a spirit might have to say.
Shadow Figure: Dark figure shaped entities of supernatural origin that appear in the peripheries of people's vision and then disintegrate, or move between walls, when noticed. Shadow figures/people are not reported as having human features, wearing modern/period clothing, or attempting to communicate. No one is quite sure what they are, but in most cases, they evoke fear and dread. It has never been reported that a Shadow Figure has ever harmed any living person, however.
Simulacra: Human forms or likeness seen in natural formations (such as furniture, light, trees, stones etc)
Sixth sense: A power of perception independent of the five senses (touch, smell, sight, feeling, taste).
Skeptic: A person who is yet undecided as to what is true. One who looks for rational explanations as to why something occurs.
Sleep paralysis: A condition in which a person seems to be awake/conscious but is unable to move.
Soul: The life force or energy of a human being or animal. A n individual person's conscious identity that cannot be extinguished after the death of their body.
